What Does “INCOTERMS” mean?

Incoterms (International Commercial Terms), is a set of sales terms defined by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). They are widely used as a standard for international trade because they clarify the responsibilities between buyer and seller.

What documents are required to clear my Cargo?

  • Authority letter.
  • Bill of Lading / Airwaybill copy.
  • Original Commercial Invoice – with signature and company stamp.
  • Original Packing List – showing HS Code, cargo weight and measurement, with signature and company stamp.
  • Certificate of Origin – Issued by the Chamber The invoice must be completed properly showing the:
    • Consignee.
    • Shipper.
    • Country of origin.
    • Detailed description of the goods.
    • Total amount of the goods.
    • Currency used.

Why do you require dimensions and weights to get a quote for LCL and airfreight shipments?

LCL and airfreight shipments rates are based on volume or gross weight, whichever is greater. In order to calculate the volume of a shipment, the dimensions of each piece are required. If the volume weight exceeds the actual weight, the shipment rate is at the volume weight. If the volume weight is less than the actual weight, the shipment is rated at the actual weight.

Do I need cargo insurance, and can you provide an insurance quote for my shipment?

Cargo insurance is not mandatory, but it is a wise decision. If something goes wrong, it is important to have cargo insurance in place to protect your business. In certain situations, shippers can become liable for losses and damages. Yes, we can provide a cargo insurance quote. Just provide us with the nature of the cargo and the invoice value of the goods.

Can you arrange for shipments to be picked up from our factory / warehouse?

Yes, we can facilitate door-to-door pickup and delivery, to and from anywhere in the world.

What info do you need to provide a quotation?

We need to know from where your shipment will be picked up, delivery location, number of pieces/pallets – weight and dimensions and a description of the commodity. You also need to indicate the terms of shipping (Incoterms) and preferred mode of transport (Air/Sea).

How to Classify the Dangerous Goods?

Dangerous goods are divided into 9 categories, according to the type of hazard they represent. Some of the classes are divided into divisions:
➢ Class 1: Explosives.
➢ Class 2: Gases.
➢ Class 3: Flammable liquids.
➢ Class 4: Flammable solids.
➢ Class 5: Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides.
➢ Class 6: Radioactive material.
➢ Class 7: corrosives.
➢ Class 8: Miscellaneous dangerous goods.

Do you offer international move for personal effects from UAE?

Yes, we can handle your personal effect shipment from Door to Port/Airport only including providing dismantling and packing services.

What Is the Maximum Pallet Size for Air Cargo?

Air cargo is moved in both passenger and freighters aircrafts. Acceptable dimensions vary depending on the type of the plane. In general, you can follow below guidelines on the maximum pallet height: Passenger Flight: Max Pallet Height: ≈ 155 CMs Freighter: Max Pallet Height: ≈ 243 CMs Outsized cargo will require Charter Services.

What are the types of packaging?

There are 3 types of packaging according to the degree of danger they represent:

  • Packing Group 1: High Danger
  • Packing Group 2: Medium Danger
  • Packing Group 3: Low Danger.

It is the shipper’s responsibility to determine and classify the shipment class, division and packing group to fall to.

Do you handle a shipment of household items on a door-to-door basis?

We do handle personal effects cargo on door to port basis only.

What is the rate to move my shipment (Commercial, personal effects) to the final destination?

Customer should provide details of the shipment in order to decide to move it as LCL, FCL or by air. We would also need to know more details about collecting the cargo or delivering the empty container to the client. In addition, we would want to know if the client will stuff the container or we are required to stuff it. When we receive these details from the client we will get the rate from the shipping line and will work on the rate. In the absence of these information we have to conduct a survey while maintaining the same procedure.

What is the best way to move my shipment which is a few boxes only?

We will move as LCL or as airfreight shipments since we are charging per CBM if we move the shipment as LCL.

Do you do packing for export?

Yes, we do a proper packing for export. also we do domestic and corporate packing and relocation locally within the UAE. Typically, upon any packing, we would require to conduct a survey (site visit to understand the requirements).

What is the transit time to arrive at the destination?

We need to check with the shipping line based on the final destination we are required to ship to.

What is the frequency of the vessel?

It depends on the shipping line and their services to the required destination.

What documents are required to export my shipment?

For Personal Effects Cargo:

  1. Packing list.
  2. Passport and visa copy, and EID copy of the shipper.
  3. Certificate of export if a car is included.

Note: In addition to the above, the consignee full address is required. The consignee will be also required to sign an export declaration form, and No Objection Letter to MICCO to initiate the export.

In case the customer is exporting a car, the following should be provided:

  1. Commercial invoice copy.
  2. Packing list copy.

Note: Original documents are required when the shipment is on door-to-door basis and on temporary basis.

Can you collect a few boxes that I have at home / factory?

Yes, we can, we need to know the details and your location to arrange the facilitators and the suitable type of truck required for the order.

Is the insurance included in your offer?

The insurance is usually not included in the offer. However, we can provide insurance if the customer requests one. If you require insurance, you would be required need to provide us with the details of the cargo and the invoice value of the goods in details.

How many days you require to relocate my apartment / villa to the new location?

It depends on the # of rooms / items to be shifted and the location of the new apartment / villa.

Can you give us an approximate rate before you do a survey?

Yes, we can; based on the details which we will collect from you.

Can we keep our cargo in your warehouses for a few days?

We do not keep personal cargo in our warehouse, and for commercial we need to have a storage contract / agreement in order to store them in our facility.

What is the rate of customs duties?

  • It is 5% of the value of goods plus CIF (Cost Freight Insurance).
  • There is 50% Duty payable for alcohol while 100% for cigarettes.

Is it possible to pay a deposit amount for goods of temporary entry?

Yes, this is possible for all merchandise that can be distinguished, as well as goods that have a serial number. However, there is no temporary entry for auto spare parts, tires, batteries and other consumables.

What is Bill of Landing?

  1. A bill of landing is a document issued by a carrier acknowledging that specified goods have been received on board as cargo for conveyance to a named place for delivery to the consignee who is usually identified.
  2. It is considered to be evidence of the content of the contract concluded between the shipper and the carrier since the bill includes all the special provisions agreed upon between the shipper and the carrier on the transport and delivery of the cargo to the intended destination.
  3. It is considered to be an ownership document of the cargo indicated herein since it is the party that issues the bill of landing on behalf of the owner and it can accordingly endorse it to any other parties within certain condition and can be used as a guarantee to get bank facilities.

What are the types of customs declarations?

The types of Customs Declarations are:

  • Import.
  • Export.
  • Re-Export.
  • Temporary Admission.
  • Transit.
  • Free Zones.
